Clinical Pilates Options:

  • One-on-One Pilates

    • Personalized pilates sessions tailored just to you. Sessions can be challenging, but rewarding and super fun! This is best option if you are recovering from an injury or if you are working towards a specific goal. During a session you will get individualized instruction and guidance. These sessions can be on the mat or using a Pilates reformer.

  • Small Group Pilates Classes

    • Group classes (4-6 participants) are a great way to improve your strength and mobility with the company of your peers! These classes are typically done on a mat and are targeted for spinal conditions (ie. back pain, stenosis, poor posture, disc pathology). Classes run for 6-8 week sessions.

Pilates FAQ

  • Pilates is a challenging low impact form of mind-body exercise. It balances strength with mobility, aligns the body, strengthens the core and fine-tunes movement patterns. Pilates helps you move through the day with more body control and less discomfort. Clinical pilates can be customized to your own physiology, ability and pain areas to aid in rehabilitating an injury.

My personal approach is to use pilates (where appropriate) to compliment a physiotherapy program. I call this clinical pilates or ‘physio pilates.' For example, integrating hands-on techniques to improve joint and soft tissue mobility, with a personalized pilates exercise program to improve movement efficiency, alignment and strength. This approach teaches you how to maintain your results long term.

  • Pilates can be helpful for a variety of conditions, especially those involving the spine. Since pilates integrates principles of spinal mobility, alignment and strength, it is a powerful tool for rehabilitating spinal pain and injuries.

For example, pilates can be used to treat:

    Low back pain and stiffness

    Sciatica

    Disc herniations

    Stenosis

    Degenerative disc disease

    Osteoporosis

    Faulty posture

    + more!

  • Yes, an initial assessment is required prior to beginning either individual Pilates or group sessions.

In the assessment we review medical history including any current concerns and do a relevant physical assessment to determine if Pilates is suitable for you.

This allows me to get to know you better in order to customize a program to your needs and suggest any movement modifications you may need.

  • Pilates when done under the realm of physiotherapy can be billed as physiotherapy under your private benefits. An initial assessment is required before beginning pilates to determine if it is an appropriate part of your treatment plan.

Every insurance plan is different. Please inquire with your own plan about the specifics of your physiotherapy coverage.

  • You can register for individual Pilates sessions through my online booking site, under Clinical Pilates. Please note if you are not a current client an Initial Assessment is required before starting Pilates.

You can view current group classes on my online booking site as well. If current classes are full, you can add yourself to the waitlist and you will be notified when the next session opens.
